The Flu and other Random Ramblings.

You know what? I really don’t get sick that often. A couple of years ago when I quit smoking and my thyroid went haywire I was sick all the time. Thank goodness that’s over! Well, I guess it had to catch up to me sooner or later because I have been very, very sick for days now. I do believe it may have been the flu. I think this mainly because I had a pretty decent fever going and MAN the headache and body aches I had! I’ve been without a fever for 24 hours now, but I’m not sure if I’m really getting better or if the gallons of Dayquil are just masking it. I went the first day without taking drugs just so my body could do it’s job, but I’m just too stuffed up now to handle a drug free sickness anymore.

Anyway, I feel like I may have turned a corner. I’ve been able to sit up for more than a few minutes today and actually got a little bit of work done on the computer – although one client told me to go back to bed because my design was awful, lol!

In other computer news, that laptop I’ve been saving up for has ceased to become a necessity for me now. I wanted to buy a Windows machine so I can test my work on multiple versions of Internet Explorer, but today I found a roundabout way of doing this on my Mac. Yay! And now that Blackberry has released Desktop Manager for Mac I officially have no reason to buy a laptop. This means I will actually be able to afford my vacation in November! Paying cash for stuff ROCKS.

Crabbing.

I have been working with an extremely difficult client lately and I am just plain weary. People just… make me weep. Especially people who are requesting my services. We have a form on our website that we ask potential clients to fill out. It’s nothing personal, nothing big at all; just some questions about what services they use already and what services they require. And yet… people NEVER FILL IT OUT. It’s always left blank – almost all of the questions. If you are requesting a web design quote, wouldn’t you want to be as descriptive as possible? Apparently our potential clients don’t care.

In other news, there are ants everywhere. I keep finding strays crawling on my desk and I don’t know where they are coming from. Ants are one of my worst hated bugs ever. Yuck yuck yuck.

Ugh, I’m cranky.

Day #11 Work

I guess I’ll steer clear of the controversial subjects with today’s post. No one seemed terribly interested in talking about those types of hot button issues, I suppose. I can understand why – not everyone wants to get into a debate on the interwebz. I get it.

Today was spent mostly at work – no, wait – today was spent wholly at work. I worked at U.S Cellular from 11-8:30, got home and worked for a client on a website from 9-Now (midnight). I didn’t even take an hour lunch at U.S.C. because we were so busy. Speaking of U.S.C., I found out that a manager from another store is thinking about applying for the job I’ve been waiting for. Yeah. That’s WONDERFUL. It’s really just made me that much more confident about getting the position. </sarcasm>

Business stuff

Work has started to pick up again for our web design business and *ta da* Tasha has her internet back! Just in time! We have a site to design for that race car driver, we have a couple of eBay jobs to do, I have work to do for www.thumbmonkey.com and I have a Pro Store to design. So… busy busy busy!

As far as my “normal” job goes, still no word on my promotion. Craig says I should know by the end of the month, but to be brutally honest, I don’t think I got the job. And you know what? It’s ok if I didn’t. I don’t think I will move to another store if I don’t get the promotion – I will just continue in the capacity that I’m in right now and I’ll be the best sales person I can be.

Any StumbleUpon users? I adore StumbleUpon, but it sure can eat up a whole day. Anyway, I was perusing through it on my lunch hour today and I noticed that every other link led to an article about Sarah Palin. And every article I read was negative and pointed out her lies and/or lack of experience. It just makes me wonder – how is she so popular? Everything I see is negative, everyone I speak to has not-so-nice things to say, but yet she supposedly has high approval ratings. I can’t wait for this election to be over… I just can’t take all the stress! Oh, and speaking of stress! I sent in my voter registration weeks and weeks ago, but the online voter verification thing says I am not registered. And on Obama’s site it says Wisconsin is not accepting new registrations. WTF? What do I do now?

Day #7 Just a few thoughts

Just a little post tonight. First of all, happy birthday to me. I didn’t get anything and none of my friends seem to have remembered. Oh well. It’s just not as big of a deal when you are older, you know?

I am feeling a bit better than I was last night, thanks to those of you that responded to my pouty entry.

I can NOT draw vector hands for a cartoon mascot. I just can’t do it. The mascot is cute, but he has no hands.

Our logo will be on a race car this weekend!! The race isn’t airing until October, but you can be sure I’ll let you guys know when.

(Another) New Website

Hey guys – I’m starting another new website. I am going to get a little more in depth with my cooking adventures – posting recipes, success stories, disasters, and everything else. I think that people may be interested to see what an ordinary non-experienced cook goes through in the learning process.

Anyway…. I need a name. I found a couple domain names that are available, but I don’t know what I want! Please, please help me! The two I found so far are www.carriecooks.com and www.newbiechef.com. There is also www.carrieiscooking.com, but that’s too much when carriecooks is available. Any other suggestions are welcome.

The site is going to be blog style, run off of wordpress. I set it up on a free webhost for the time being, but hopefully I will have to transfer because my site generates too much traffic, lol! You can see the temporary page here, but there isn’t anything to it yet.

Life Update

I know, I know. I start something and can never finish it. I haven’t done a Meal Plan update in two weeks. I HAVE still been making dinners every day, I just haven’t had time to write about them. The only stand out so far has been the Chicken Milano I made last week. This was truly a restaurant quality dish. I recommend it highly.

The reason I haven’t had time to write is because I’ve had a LOT of work to do IRL, for clients and for our design studio. I’m discovering that working freelance can be just as big of a headache as working retail. I think this little chart says it pretty well. It just left out the time spent wanting to kill your clients because they don’t like what you give them… but when you change it, they say it was better the first time. At least as a freelancer I can yell and swear at my clients because they can’t hear me. I can’t quite do that at my “real” job (although I came pretty close the other day).

Since I’m spending so much time in front of my computer, I’ve been checking out a lot of new music as well. I heard a song on a Sopranos commercial (of all places!) that I had to go and Google. It was “Mama” by My Chemical Romance. I downloaded the song – I LOVE being able to buy one song at a time – and it really really grew on me. I ended up buying the whole album today and all I can say is “WOW”. I love this band! Me, the girl that listens to soft rock almost exclusively. I can’t get enough of these guys!

New Website
